
Arnold's Country Kitchen
Opened by Jack and Rose Arnold in 1982 and now run by their son Kahlil, this meat-and-three lunch counter received a James Beard American Classics Award in 2009 and appears in the 2025 MICHELIN Guide USA. The daily-changing cafeteria line always includes mac and cheese as a rotating side, cooked in the same home-kitchen tradition that defines the whole operation. It closes once the food runs out.
