Carney's Restaurant
Carney's is a Los Angeles landmark founded in 1975 by John Wolfe Sr., serving classic chili dogs and burgers out of restored 1926 Union Pacific rail cars on the Sunset Strip and in Studio City. The restaurant's signature chili dog — an all-beef frank smothered in house-made chili, cheddar cheese, and diced onions — earned Carney's a place on Pulitzer Prize-winning critic Jonathan Gold's list of 99 essential Los Angeles restaurants. Still family-owned by the Wolfe family after five decades, Carney's is one of the most distinctive and beloved fast-food landmarks in Southern California.
