Chick-fil-A traces its origins to 1946, when S. Truett Cathy opened the Dwarf Grill diner in Hapeville, Georgia, eventually developing the pressure-cooked boneless chicken sandwich on a toasted bun with pickle chips that the chain is built around. The first Chick-fil-A restaurant opened in 1967 in Atlanta's Greenbriar Mall, pioneering the in-mall restaurant concept, and the chain has grown to over 2,800 locations across 48 states. As a family-owned business, all Chick-fil-A locations close on Sundays as part of the founding values established by Truett Cathy.
