Dalessandro's Steaks & Hoagies was founded in 1960 by William Dalessandro in Philadelphia's Roxborough neighborhood, moving to its current location at 600 Wendover Street in 1961. This cash-only institution is celebrated for its Philly cheesesteaks made with freshly sliced rib-eye, melted Cheez Whiz, and grilled onions on soft Amoroso rolls. The shop earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand distinction and has been inducted into Visit Philly's Sandwich Hall of Fame, cementing its status as one of the city's most iconic cheesesteak destinations.
