Everett and Jones Barbeque is a celebrated East Bay institution founded in Oakland in 1973 by Dorothy Everett, a single mother of nine who launched the restaurant with $700 borrowed from a friend after learning the trade at Flint's Barbeque. Now operating multiple Bay Area locations, Everett and Jones was ranked 5th in the nation by Fox News and has won Oakland Magazine's Readers' Choice Best Barbecue, with Whoopi Goldberg, John Madden, and Jamie Foxx among its notable admirers.
