Glai Baan, whose name translates roughly to "far from home" in Thai, serves authentic northern Thai street food at its cozy 50-seat restaurant in Phoenix's Arcadia neighborhood. Chef and owner Cat Bunnag earned a James Beard Award semifinalist nomination for the restaurant's outstanding beverage program, while dishes like the smoked mackerel fried rice were named among Phoenix magazine's 101 Best Dishes in the Valley. The concise, intensely flavorful menu changes seasonally and features hard-to-find regional Thai preparations rarely found in Arizona.
