Open since 1927 and housed partly in a repurposed Key Line rail car, Grubstake is a late-night SF institution featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. The onion rings are hot, not greasy, and perfectly crispy, drawing reviewers to call them among the best they've ever had. Hours run until 3 or 4 AM depending on the night, making it a destination when most kitchens are dark.
