Kai Zan

Kai Zan is a Chicago sushi restaurant opened in 2012 by identical twin chefs Melvin and Carlo Vizconde in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, blending traditional omakase nigiri with tapas-style small plates into a creative fusion format. The restaurant earned Best New Restaurant honors from Chicago Magazine and Best New Sushi from Time Out Chicago in 2013, and was recognized in the Michelin Guide Chicago Bib Gourmand list in 2014 and 2015. Guests can share their preferences with the twins, who then craft individualized maki and sushi creations behind the open sushi bar.
