Mitchell's Ice Cream is a San Francisco institution founded in 1953 by brothers Larry and Jack Mitchell in the Noe Valley neighborhood, where it has operated as a single-location shop for over 70 years. The family-owned creamery is credited with introducing mango ice cream to the Bay Area in the early 1960s — still its top-selling flavor — and produces all of its super-premium ice cream fresh daily on-site using 16% butterfat cream.
