Sonny's BBQ

Sonny's BBQ was founded on April 17, 1968, by Floyd 'Sonny' Tillman and his wife Lucille with a single location on Waldo Road in Gainesville, Florida, originally named Fat Boys before being rebranded in 1977. The chain began franchising that same year, became the largest BBQ chain in the United States during the 2000s, and currently operates approximately 91 locations concentrated primarily in the Southeast, all smoking meats over oak wood as they have since 1968.
