Steak 'n Shake

Steak 'n Shake was founded in February 1934 by Gus Belt in Normal, Illinois, built around the concept of grinding steak cuts fresh in front of customers to create its signature Steakburgers — a practice captured in the motto "In Sight It Must Be Right." The chain is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, and operates over 550 locations across 28 states as well as in Europe and the Middle East. It is owned by Biglari Holdings, which led a turnaround of the brand beginning in 2008.
