The Shed
The Shed has been a Santa Fe dining institution since July 4, 1953, when Polly and Thornton Carswell opened it on Burro Alley; the restaurant moved to its current location in Prince Patio — a historic adobe hacienda dating to 1692 — in 1960. In 2003, on its 50th anniversary, the James Beard Foundation honored it with an America's Classics Award. The Shed remains family-owned by the third generation of Carswells and is renowned for its red chile enchiladas and blue corn dishes.
