Two Scoops Creamery was founded in August 2016 in Charlotte's Plaza Midwood neighborhood by three best friends — Marques Johnson, Rich Moyer, and Jae Hatchett — with Johnson drawing on a family ice cream recipe passed down through his uncle, who operates a creamery in Florida. The shop has grown to five locations across the Carolinas, been featured on the Today Show and in Food Network Magazine, and been voted best ice cream in North Carolina.
