Warda Pâtisserie was founded by Algerian-born Warda Bouguettaya, who trained at Institut Paul Bocuse in Shanghai before launching her pastry business at Detroit's Corktown Farmers Market in 2016 and opening her Midtown Detroit shop in 2017. Bouguettaya earned the James Beard Foundation's Outstanding Pastry Chef award in 2022 and was named one of Food & Wine's Best New Chefs in America that same year, with signature items blending French technique with North African and Southeast Asian flavors.
