Birria LES is a halal Mexican restaurant on Manhattan's Lower East Side, opened by childhood friends Iqbal Ahmed and Emon Ullah with chef Raymundo Garcia, a native of Tlaxcala, Mexico, who developed the birria recipe over two months of refinement. The concept went viral on TikTok and expanded from a tiny seven-seat storefront on Rivington Street to five New York City locations, offering quesabirria tacos, mulitas, and consommé to a growing audience of younger halal diners.
