Los Tacos No. 1 was founded in 2013 at Chelsea Market in New York City by three friends — Christian Pineda, Tyler Sanders, and Kyle Cameron — who spent four months studying taqueros in Tijuana before opening with family recipes and $80,000 in seed money. The standing-room-only taqueria specializes in carne asada, adobada, pollo asado, and nopal tacos made on fresh corn or flour tortillas, replicating the feel of a Tijuana taco shack in Manhattan. It has grown to eight NYC locations and been named among the best tacos in America by outlets including Thrillist and Fox News.
