Chanon Thai Cafe
Chanon Thai Cafe is a cherished Salt Lake City institution founded by Sasipa Chanon, who moved from Thailand to Utah in 2001 and built the restaurant around her mother's authentic recipes, including house-grown Thai basil and produce sourced from local farmers markets. Located on 900 South since the early 2000s, the cafe has won multiple City Weekly Best of Utah awards including Best Thai, and is known for deeply flavorful dishes rooted in decades of family culinary tradition. In 2025 the Salt Lake community rallied with a crowdfunding campaign to support the restaurant through a family health crisis, a testament to the deep loyalty it has earned.
