Fry Bread House is a Phoenix institution founded in 1992 by Tohono O'odham Nation member Cecelia Miller, serving traditional Native American fry bread with savory toppings like chili beef and cheese or sweet finishes like butter and chocolate. In 2012 it became the first Native American restaurant ever to win the James Beard Foundation's America's Classics Award, honoring its role in preserving indigenous food culture. The restaurant gained further national recognition through a feature on Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and continues under the stewardship of Miller's children.
