High West Distillery, founded in 2006 by former biochemist David Perkins, became Utah's first legal distillery since 1870 and the world's only ski-in gastro-distillery, located at the base of Park City Resort's Quittin' Time ski run. The distillery's flagship whiskeys, aged at high altitude in Park City, have earned international acclaim including Whisky Advocate's Distiller of the Year in 2016 and a Double Gold Medal for Rendezvous Rye at the San Francisco Spirits Competition. The historic saloon and restaurant operate out of a National Register of Historic Places building, a livery stable dating to 1907.
