Home Slice Pizza has been an Austin institution since November 2005, founded by Jen and Joseph Strickland after training at a New Jersey pizzeria to perfect the New York-style pie they couldn't find in Texas. The South Congress Avenue landmark was ranked #4 on Yelp's list of Top 100 Pizza Joints in the United States and has won the Austin Chronicle Readers Poll for Best Pizza repeatedly over its two-decade run. Producing roughly 3,000 pizzas and slices daily, Home Slice celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2025 with Travis County officially declaring November 15 as Home Slice Pizza Day.
