Ishkabibbles

A Philadelphia institution since 1979 on South Street, Ishkabibble's is widely credited as the birthplace of the chicken cheesesteak, introducing the now-ubiquitous alternative to the traditional beef cheesesteak in the 1980s. The no-frills counter spot is beloved for made-to-order cheesesteaks, housemade Spanish fries, and the signature Gremlin drink — a half-lemonade, half-grape juice concoction — and was named one of America's best hole-in-the-wall restaurants by The Daily Meal.
