Mema's Alaskan Tacos

A Tampa institution that returned to Ybor City in 2024 after a 13-year absence, Mema's Alaskan Tacos traces its recipe to a cook at Alaska's Elmendorf Air Force Base in the 1950s. The taco has a lightly fried, slightly crunchy shell unlike standard hard or soft varieties, and proteins include gator, shrimp, salmon, grouper, beef, and chicken. Double-decker upgrades, burritos, and tamales fill out the menu.
