Nash and Proper is a Black-owned hot chicken restaurant in downtown Sacramento that grew from a popular food truck into an award-winning brick-and-mortar known for its fried chicken sandwiches. Chef Cecil Rhodes's sandwiches and tenders come in heat levels from mild to fiery, served alongside mac and cheese and collard greens. The perfectly seasoned crust and juicy interior have earned it recognition as one of Sacramento's best fried chicken destinations. A second location called The Line operates at 6415 Elvas Ave.
