Sam Jones BBQ in Raleigh is the second location of third-generation pitmaster Sam Jones, whose family has smoked whole hogs since the 1830s and whose grandfather's restaurant Skylight Inn received a James Beard America's Classics Award in 2003 — the first barbecue joint ever to earn that distinction. Jones earned a James Beard Best Chef: Southeast semifinalist nomination in 2018, and Sam Jones BBQ earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand in the inaugural Michelin Guide to the American South.
