
Taiyaki NYC Japanese Ice Cream
Taiyaki NYC opened in 2016 in Manhattan's Chinatown neighborhood and is credited as the original creator of the taiyaki ice cream cone in the United States, serving Japanese fish-shaped waffles filled with custard and topped with soft-serve ice cream. Founded by a family of first- and second-generation Asian Americans, the concept draws on Japanese street food traditions dating to the Edo period. The brand has since expanded to locations in Miami, Brooklyn, Toronto, and Boston.
