Wiley's Championship BBQ in Savannah, Georgia was opened on September 12, 2008, by competition pitmaster Wiley McCrary and his wife Janet, who spent nearly two decades winning national BBQ competitions including Georgia and South Carolina state championships. McCrary authored the cookbook BBQ Secrets Old Men Take to the Grave, named the 2014 BBQ Book of the Year by the National Barbecue News, and Southern Living ranked Wiley's the number-one barbecue restaurant in Georgia in 2020. After McCrary's death in 2018, the restaurant continued under new ownership while preserving his recipes.
