Woodyard Bar-B-Que in Kansas City, Kansas, traces its roots to 1912, when Frank Schloegel began selling specialty cooking woods under the Southside Patio & Wood Company name, supplying hickory, pecan, and cherry to barbecue restaurants including Ollie Gates. Frank Schloegel III made the operation an official restaurant in 2001, and the property remains a working woodyard today. The restaurant has been featured on both Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, and is known for pecan-smoked pork spare ribs cooked in a brick-encased triple smoker.
