Central City BBQ opened in 2016 at 1201 South Rampart Street, founded by award-winning chef Aaron Burgau and third-generation restaurateur Marc Bonifacic. The restaurant blends traditional wood-smoked barbecue with New Orleans Cajun and Creole influences, using local ingredients like Steen's cane syrup in house-made sauces. The pitmaster team earned first place in ribs at the Memphis in May World Championship BBQ Contest and operates one of the city's largest outdoor event venues.
