Open since 1963, Champ Burger is a walk-up East End institution where the original owner still stops in to check on his creation more than 60 years later. The no-frills cheeseburger is made the same way it always has been: the menu is written on an old-school board, orders come in brown paper bags, and the price remains one of the most honest in the city. Lunch-only hours on weekdays mean planning is required, but the reward is a genuine Houston original.
