FIG — Food Is Good — is one of Charleston's most decorated fine dining restaurants, opened in 2003 by chef-partner Mike Lata and Adam Nemirow with a philosophy of honest, locally sourced ingredients and French-influenced technique. Chef Lata won the James Beard Award for Best Chef Southeast in 2009, and executive chef Jason Stanhope earned the same award in 2015, an almost unprecedented achievement for one restaurant. FIG also won the James Beard Award for Outstanding Wine Program in 2018 and has appeared on every major list of Charleston's essential restaurants for over two decades.
