La Dồng opened near Union Square in New York City in September 2024, from the team behind acclaimed Thai restaurants Pranakhon and Thai Villa. Unlike most Vietnamese restaurants in New York, which focus on Saigon-style dishes, La Dồng centers on Northern Vietnamese and Hanoian cuisine, including a pho with Miyazaki A5 wagyu poured tableside and a signature Vietnamese turmeric crepe. The restaurant earned a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand designation for 2025, recognizing its high-quality cooking and excellent value.
