Tartine Bakery was founded in 2002 by husband-and-wife team Chad Robertson and Elisabeth Prueitt in San Francisco's Mission District, growing from a single location on Guerrero Street into an internationally recognized brand. Prueitt won the James Beard Award for Outstanding Pastry Chef in 2008, and the bakery is celebrated for its country bread, morning buns, and croque monsieur. Tartine now operates locations across San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Seoul, South Korea.
