The Four Way has been a cornerstone of Memphis soul food since Irene and Clint Cleaves opened it in 1946 in the city's Soulsville neighborhood, just blocks from Stax Records. The restaurant became a gathering place during the Civil Rights era, hosting figures including Martin Luther King Jr. and B.B. King, and remains celebrated for its fried chicken, braised collard greens, and sweet potato pie.
