Char Bar Smoked Meats and Amusements opened in 2014 in Kansas City's historic Westport neighborhood, built around the championship barbecue talents of pitmaster Mitch Benjamin of the award-winning Meat Mitch competition team. Benjamin's sauces and rubs have won top honors at the American Royal World Series of Barbecue and the Memphis in May Barbecue Sauce contest. The restaurant pairs chef-driven Kansas City barbecue with the city's largest beer garden, featuring bocce courts, ping-pong, and fire pits.
