Founded in 1998 by Phil Pace in San Diego's Mission Hills neighborhood, Phil's BBQ built its reputation on mesquite-grilled baby back and beef ribs using a proprietary rub and sauce recipe. Featured on Man v. Food and Adam Richman's Best Sandwich in America, it was named Best BBQ and Catering by the San Diego Union-Tribune Readers Poll in 2014 and ranked as the second most commonly reviewed business on Yelp in the United States for 2013.
