Taqueria Cancún was founded in the early 1990s by Gerardo Rico and Pedro Grande in San Francisco's Mission District, with the two previously working together at El Farolito before opening their own competing spot. The restaurant became celebrated for its burritos and has since grown to three locations across the city. Taqueria Cancún has been recognized by Yelp, Delish, and Business Insider as one of San Francisco's top taquerias.
