The Joint was founded in 2004 by Pete and Jenny Breen in New Orleans' historic Bywater neighborhood, establishing itself as the city's go-to destination for slow-smoked Southern barbecue before Hurricane Katrina. The restaurant relocated to its current address at 701 Mazant Street in 2012 and has been featured in Bon Appétit, Zagat, and on the Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.
